
Jean-Pierre Colin (JP) ), President & CEO of Galaxy Placements Inc., is public company executive and a corporate strategy consultant to resource issuers and clean technology companies.
During his career as an investment banker, JP led corporate finance & syndication departments of established Bay Street brokerage houses and many M&A professionals in Canada focussing on resources, technology, telecommunications, transportation, banking, industrial, biotechnology sectors, and clean technology.
As a former senior securities industry executive at Richardson Greenshields of Canada Limited, now RBC Capital Markets; JP Colin Securities Inc.; Desjardins Securities Inc.; Deacon Capital Corporation, purchased from Barclays Bank; and Octagon Capital Corporation, JP has extensive knowledge of the Canadian Capital Markets and experience as a financier of over $7 Billion of capital in the Canadian and USA capital markets, including over 600 public underwritings and private placement financing transactions during his career.
JP also innovated billions of dollars of structured products and complex deal structures, such as Canada’s first Flow Through Shares and Funds, QSSP transactions, ROC shares, NT deals, Split Share Offerings, as well as leading innovative Royalty Trust structures, Income Trust structures and Canada’s First Public Hobby Farm and Charity Flow Through deals.
JP is Executive Vice President & Director of dynaCERT Inc. (TSX:DYA) and an independent director of Sego Resources Inc. (TSXV:SGZ).
JP served on numerous other boards of directors of prosperous public companies, including chairing audit committees, compensation committees and corporate governance committees, and providing financing and M&A advice to them. He served on the boards of such successful companies as: Premier Gold Mines Limited, operator of several operating mines in North America; Wolfden Resources Inc., which was purchased by Zinifex for approximately $400 Million in a friendly takeover; Virginia Gold Mines Inc., which sold its Eleonore mine to Goldcorp for over $1.2 Billion; and Pelangio Mines Inc., which sold the famous Detour Gold Property to Detour Gold, one of North America’s largest gold mines.
JP holds an MBA from Ivey School of Business of Western University, an LL.L degree in Civil Law from the University of Ottawa, a Certificate in Comparative Law from University of Manitoba, a D.C.S. (Ecology) from McGill University and is a member of the Bar of the Province of Quebec (avocat à la retraite).
In 2021, JP served on the Hydrogen Strategy Working Group, advising the Ontario Government on its hydrogen economy policy.
